I’m not sure where to start really, I suppose it might be useful to ask the question “why did I think I needed CBD in my life?”
Well, I don’t recall thinking that I did actually but I do recall thinking that I was in physical pain every day in one form or another and I wasn’t happy about it. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t bed bound or struggling to get through the day, nothing that bad, It was just that 48 years of running around the planet at warp speed had taken its toll physically. I’m not the kind of person who can sit still you see, I’m always in search of an adventure, something, anything! (it turned out there was a very good reason for this, but we’ll come to that later).

Marijuana, Hemp, and CBD have endured their fair share of scrutiny, coming from such a misunderstood background through decades of agenda-driven media and hearsay, slowly growing into a modern movement, becoming ingrained in holistic therapies, sports, and popular culture.

Our endocannabinoid system (ECS), the namesake of which is CBD’s mother plant, has been described by researchers as “a literal bridge between body and mind” and with the right approach and method for each individual, we can use CBD to strengthen this bridge. As individuals we may have all experienced the feeling of being “trapped inside your own mind” and now, as a society, we’ve been literally trapped inside for an unprecedented amount of time.

The cannabis plant is thought to have evolved 19 million years ago on the Tibetan Plateau and to have spread to Europe about 1 million years ago. Cannabis has been an agricultural crop for millennia with production starting in China 5000 years ago and there are records of it being part of ancient Chinese medical practices. The fascinating chemistry of the cannabis plant is complex and has much in common with other plants, except that it is a primary source of cannabidiol (CBD), one of the most active phytocannabinoids.

Over the last year CBD oils, balms and vaporisers have become increasingly popular and the public’s knowledge of their benefits and uses are more widespread than ever. However, as with anything popular, the spread of misinformation can become counterproductive to introducing people to the evidence-based benefits of CBD. With that in mind, does the use of CBD oil actually help inflammation in the body and does CBD oil boost your immune system?

So what is CBD? Cannabidiol or CBD for short is the naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of the cannabis plant which has a rich history as a go-to medicine dating back thousands of years. Present-day, the therapeutic properties of this wonderful extract, is now being investigated and acknowledged by medical professionals around the world.
